On May 25, the Sanford Athletics Department hosted a breakfast in the Culinary Arts Cafe for 50 student-athletes who played three sports in the 2022-2023 school year.
The breakfast was to honor the students for balancing their academics and athletics for the whole school year.
Athletic Director Zach Lemelin commented, “[It is a] really cool way to recognize kids for the hard work and dedication that might kind of go unnoticed.”
The breakfast was prepared for and served by the SRTC Culinary Arts program. Students were able to order from their menu. The food options included pancakes, french toast and omelets. There were also sides and drinks provided with some of the options being sausage, bacon, toast, coffee, apple juice and orange juice.
The 50 athletes were broken into two different groups and times for breakfast. Freshmen and sophomores had breakfast at 8:15 a.m. while the juniors and seniors ate at 9 a.m.
Freshman Kenzie Taylor added, “It was great food, and a lot of fun.”
