On Friday, May 19, Sanford High School hosted its annual ‘This is Us’ carnival for students and staff to celebrate the end of the school year.

At the start of the day, students’ names were hanging up in class banners with a one-word tag that represents them. These were chosen by SHS staff. After Spartan Time, the festivities began.

Inside the school, there was Karaoke in the agora along with Mario Kart in the library. Ping pong took place downstairs in the blue wing. Aroma Joe’s offered flavored sodas just outside the cafeteria.

Just outside the main entrance, there were popcorn and snow cones. There were also temporary tattoos and friendship bracelet stations along the walkway. Pool noodle larping happened just outside the blue wing entrance.

The dunk tank was stationed near the bus lane, with many staff members getting plunged into the water. Next to the dunk tank, “teacher pie in the face” took place. Many gathered around to catch the staff that they voted to get pied.

On the baseball field, many competitive activities went on. Students had the opportunity to race in the blow-up obstacle course or compete in the bungee run. Music was played for all to hear while participating in these activities. Many rounds of gaga ball took place closer to the road. Students also had the choice of playing cornhole with their friends, laser tag and wiffleball.

This is Us is a fun way to prepare for the end of the school year and allow kids to have a fun day to hang out and make memories with their friends.
