Hannah Paterson completes four years of playing in the Portland Youth Wind Ensemble and Portland Youth Symphony Orchestra

SANFORD, Maine — SHS Senior Hannah Paterson participated in the University of Southern Maine’s Osher School of Music Youth Ensembles concert on Thursday, April 11 at Merrill Auditorium in Portland. 

Paterson has played in the Portland Youth Wind Ensemble and Portland Youth Symphony Orchestra throughout her four years of high school. These are auditioned groups that meet once a week at the Osher School of Music in Gorham. These groups are made up of students from all over Maine, and play advanced literature. This was Paterson’s final concert with PYWE and PYSO. 

Paterson also had a featured trumpet solo in Aaron Copeland’s “Outdoor Overture”, one of the most notable solos in trumpet literature. After graduation, she plans on going to school for Music Education.
