SANFORD, Maine – The annual Maine Lobster Bowl will take place at the Don Roux Field in Lewiston on Saturday, July 20 at 4 p.m. Jordan Bissonnette, Tucker Walker and Cam Suhy have been selected to represent Sanford.

This is the first time since 2017 that Sanford has had three players in the game, according to Sanford Varsity Football Coach, Mike Fallon.

The Maine Shrine Lobster Bowl began in 1990 and includes more than 100 All-Star football players and cheerleaders selected from more than 60 different Maine high schools.

Each player is responsible for fundraising at least $500 to participate in the game. Donations and proceeds go to benefit Shriners Children’s Burns Hospital.

“It’s an honor to be selected to play,” Fallon said. “Most importantly, it is a fundraiser for the Shriners Hospital and people lose sight of that.”

In addition to fundraising, the Spartans must also practice with other players they’re used to playing against in the regular season and attend a week of camp to help accomplish that.

Walker, a senior captain for the Spartans and an offensive and defensive lineman, plans on attending a four year college after graduation. This fall, he was an All-Conference First Team Offensive Lineman, Second-Team Defensive Tackle and received the Jerry Raymond Lineman of the Year Award. Walker is also the 2024 Indoor Track Shotput State Champion and the 2023 Outdoor Track & Field Discus State Champion.

Suhy, a Second-Team All-Conference defensive end, will be playing running back and defensive end. He is committed to Anna Maria College to play football, where he plans to study business.

Bissonnette, also a running back and linebacker, is headed to Norwich University to play football. This fall he was an All-Conference First-Team running back and Second-Team linebacker.

“They have excellent football skills,” Fallon said. “Part of being able to play in that game is a reflection of your character…Playing in the Lobster Bowl is a testament to that.”
