Football’s Rhylen Avery and Girls Soccer’s Ava Hudson named Spartan Athletes of the Week
Football’s Rhylen Avery and Girls Soccer’s Ava Hudson were named by The Spartan Times and Sanford Athletics as “Athletes of the Week” for their performances Sept. 9 – 14, 2024.
Avery, a senior, scored twice against Scarborough, one touchdown from 63 yards out and the other was a 38-yard run.
“Rhylen has been a workhorse for us this season so far. In two games he is closing in on 400 yards, 185 vs Scarborough last week.” Head coach Mark Boissonneault stated, also adding that Avery is a great leader for the team, and a major contributor for the offense.
Hudson, a junior midfielder, scored an outstanding 4 goals in one game against Massabesic, as well as showing true efforts and hustle in a tough game against Thornton Academy.
Coach McCall states, “Ava’s excellent decision-making and shooting skills led our strong offensive attack in our first two games. Her determination and passion for playing sets a great example for all of her teammates!”
