SANFORD, Maine – On Saturday, Oct. 26 the Sanford High School’s Marching Band took the field for evaluation at their final competition on Alumni Stadium.

Their show, Beacon won all 5s in every category continuing the marching band’s gold streak. For the past 3 seasons, they have won a gold medal. The awards were presented by Maine Band Directors Association’s Vice President, Hailey Francoeur.

This year there were around 60 teenagers participating in Marching Band and color guard. Among these 60 teenagers, there were 12 seniors, Corinna Vitale, Quang Lam, Evan Caron, Hope Abott-Eaton, Tim McGee, Kallu Charron, Daysha Watson, Brady Goldsmith, Kilee Francis, Dylan Sanna, Cassidy Rivard and Hannah Dearborn.

While there’s a lot of time before the new season starts up, it’s never too early to start thinking about playing an instrument or spinning with the Guard next year.

On Tuesday, Oct 29. The Marching Band had their banquet in the Sanford High School’s agora and cafeteria.

Drum major Lydia Treadwell said, “Banquets like these are always bittersweet, especially now as I say goodbye to the last seniors I first started marching with in 2021. It’s a lot of fun preparing for the celebration— Leadership works on slideshows, a multicam presentation, fun certificates, and its overall a great night to eat and have fun as a whole ensemble for one last time. This season in particular will stay with me forever and my gratitude to the leadership team, staff, parents and ensemble is endless. I’m looking forward to continuing and enhancing our excellence next year.”

In the meantime Sanford High School has Winter Percussion with the theme “Lets play” and Winter Guard as “Coven” sign ups have already started but it’s never too late to sign up.
