Varsity Sports Recap: Oct. 21-26

See how our varsity teams fared in their final week of regular season games.

On Saturday (Oct. 26) the Spartans traveled to Twin Brooks with two of the male athletes getting their personal best. Those athletes were Isaac Pelletier with a time of 18:26.84 and Jordyn Theroux with his time of 21:03.32.

Up next is Class A states on Saturday (Nov. 2nd) once again at Twin Brooks.

On Monday (Oct. 21) Sanford’s boy’s soccer team traveled to Noble for their final game of the season and lost 2-1. The lone goal came from Antowayne Chisholm.

On Friday (Oct. 25) the Spartans traveled to Kennebunk to take on the Rams. Bella McCall and Annalise Stimmel both played outstanding and scored game tying goals for the Spartans. Mollie Puffer added an assist on a great pass. Savannah Knight and Kya Duprey led an outstanding defensive effort. Sophie Olivo excelled in goal highlighted by an incredible clutch save late in the game. The Spartans ended up losing a hard fought battle 3-2 after penalty kicks after double over time. Resulting in their season ending. 

The Spartans did not have a game this week but they did have a scrimmage against York to get ready for their quarter final game against TA on Tuesday, Oct. 29. 

On Thursday (Oct. 24) Sanford’s football team hosted Thornton Academy and lost 48-0.

Sanford’s final regular season game is on Friday (Nov. 1) at Noble at 7 p.m.

On Monday (Oct. 21) Sanford’s volleyball team traveled to Kennebunk and lost 1-3. A notable performance was Leah Soucy with 24 digs. On Tuesday (Oct. 22) Sanford traveled to Thornton Academy for their final game of the season and lost 0-3. A notable performance in that game was Soucy with 24 digs.
