Sanford High School’s Peer Helpers are hosting its Annual Food Drive for the 11th year. Fifty families with a child attending SHS are in need of food for this Thanksgiving. By collecting donations and dry goods, these families will be receiving a full Thanksgiving basket.
From Nov. 1-22, all students are encouraged to bring their designated food to the baskets in front of the main office:
Class of 2025: Stuffing
Class of 2026: Canned Veggies
Class of 2027: Turkey Gravy + Cranberry Sauce
Class of 2028: Instant Mashed Potatoes

The Peer Helper advisors, Mrs. Lemelin and Mrs. Fallon, are very excited for this year, and sent out emails to coaches and clubs in hopes of getting donations as well.
“It is very helpful when people donate because we are trying to get 50 families, baskets for thanksgiving. It is very important to get as much as we can because all families differ in size,” said the Vice President of Peer Helpers, Rory White.
The Peer Helpers want to especially thank Eastern Propane, who donated a total of $1,000 to the food drive. Marc Motors also made a sizable but undisclosed donation.
Community members are also encouraged to drop off canned and boxed goods or make donations.
