SANFORD, Maine – On Tuesday, Nov. 19, The Sanford High School National Honor Society (NHS) hosted its annual Induction Ceremony of new members in the Performing Arts Center, and pinned the club’s elected officers.

The newly appointed advisors for NHS are Mrs. Elizabeth White and Ms. Heather English. Elected officers include Quang Lam as President, Alexis Hayward as Vice President, Mckenna Nanartowich as Secretary, and Savanah Knight as Treasurer.

Tracy Gibson the Sanford High School Principal, and Adam Soule a teacher at Sanford High School were both voted by the club members to speak on their excellence and achievements throughout their high school year that led them to this moment.

Then, the officers spoke about the 4 pillars of NHS that exemplify their roles, responsibilities, and initiatives of being in NHS: service, scholarship, leadership and character.

For the induction of new members, existing members read a paragraph about each one of the new inductees. New members signed their names in the NHS member book, and received their NHS cards, pins and oath lines.

To close out the ceremony, the new inductees collectively said the Nation Honors Society Oath together to finalize their welcome to the organization.

The induction event was followed by a reception with baked goods, fruits, crackers and various punches.

All of the NHS members will work on the next steps such as creating a tree to display at the Spree of Trees, tutoring after school on Thursdays, writing holiday cards for nursing homes, Santa letters for children, and more.

Congratulations to all new members and pinned officers.
