Wrestlings’s James Chaplick and Basketball’s Ava Hudson named Spartan Athletes of the Week

Wrestling’s James Chaplick and Girl’s Basketball’s Ava Hudson were named by The Spartan Times and Sanford Athletics as “Athletes of the Week” for their performances during opening week of Winter Sports, December 6-14.
Chaplick, a senior captain, went 4-0 against Deering, Fryeburg, York and Wolfpack.
“James Chaplick has been a phenomenal leader for our team on and off the mat,” said Coach Smitty. “He’s been strong on the mat coming through with big points when we need it and he’s been able to turn the momentum around by hyping up our bench during key matches.”
Hudson, a junior captain, tallied 45 points in three games: 14 against TA, 13 against Edward Little, and 18 against York. Hudson also had nine rebounds against York, narrowly missing a double-double.
“We are out to a 2-1 start to the season which is a good start,” said Coach Kearson, noting Hudson’s contributions on- and off-ball. “We just have to keep working hard taking it one game at a time.”
