Basketball’s Mollie Puffer and Dylan Gendron were named by The Spartan Times and Sanford Athletics as “Athletes of the Week” for their performances during the holiday break.

Mollie Puffer, a freshman, has had a standout start to her rookie season. In a total of 5 games from December 20 to  January 2, she scored a total of 90 points. She recorded a game high 28 points against Portland and finished with a double-double (21 points, 14 rebounds).

“Mollie Puffer has been one of the many pieces that has helped add to our success these past couple of games,” said Coach Kearson. “The best part of the many that she possesses is that she is a hard worker who is willing to do whatever is necessary to see her [teammates] succeed.”

Her averages on the season. PPG. 16.3, Rebounds 13.1, Steals 1.1, FT 75%.

Dylan Gendron, a junior captain, had a great stretch over break, scoring 74 points over four games and collecting 34 rebounds. Highlights include scoring 30 points at Oxford Hills, which included 6 three pointers.

“Dylan is one of our best players on both offense and defense,” said Coach Mills. “He has a unique ability to score at all three levels and defend the other team’s best player at the same time. We challenge Dylan every night to be the best he can be on offense and on defense and he continuously responds to the challenge.”

Congratulations to our Spartan Athletes of the Week!
