Basketball’s Paige Sevigny and Eli Rumery were named by The Spartan Times and Sanford Athletics as “Athletes of the Week” for their performances from Jan. 3-11.
Paige Sevigny, a sophomore, put together three great games against Noble, Thornton Academy and Bonny Eagle, nearly recording three double-doubles. She had a double double with 10 points and 10 rebounds against Noble, 10 points and 7 rebounds against TA, and was the leading scorer with 16 points and 12 rebounds against Bonny Eagle.
According to Coach Kearson, Sevigny is currently in 2nd place in AA South in scoring, 3rd place in AA South in rebounding, 3rd in AA South in assists, and 2nd place in AA South in 3 pointers made per game.

“Paige ‘Dimes’ Sevigny has been the epitome of a floor general this season and in those games in particular she has shined,” said Coach Kearson. “She has been an awesome leader and doing a great job of getting her teammates involved along with making them better. We will need her to keep doing what she’s doing since we are headed towards the home stretch. She is having a very good season and I’m very proud of how she has been playing.”

Eli Rumery, a freshman, had a tremendous meet at Cheverus, a must-win meet for the Spartans. After getting bumped up from JV to Varsity at the last minute due to an injury,. Rumery helped his team gain momentum by winning his 120 match by pin.
“Eli has been committed to coming to every morning workout and practice,” said Coach Smitty. “He continues to get better and better throughout the season. I was impressed with his confidence in coming into the varsity line up moving up a weight class to help the team. It was incredible to see a freshman step up to the position he was put in. He knew he needed to come through with his first varsity win and he did!”
Congratulations to our Spartan Athletes of the Week!
