Comedy music show “The Phony Awards” comes to the Sanford Performing Arts Center

SANFORD, Maine – Broadway’s Next Hit Musical presents an original, improvised award show filled with comedy and spontaneous music, called “The Phony Awards.” The show is coming to the Sanford Performing Arts Center on Saturday, Feb. 8, at 7 p.m. 

Tickets will be $29-39, with a 10% discount for seniors and a 20% discount for subscribers, as well as a discount for students and military veterans. 

“Audience members suggest made-up hit songs and master improvisers create a full-blown, improvised musical from the winning song. Expect memorable characters, witty dialogue, and plot twists that will have you laughing and humming for days,” said the Sanford Performing Arts Center. 

This acclaimed show resides at the “54 Below,” NYC’s Tony Award-winning cabaret club, designed by award-winning lighting, scenic, and sound designers. 

They’ve also had many tours internationally and across the U.S. 

“The team is creative, quick-witted, super-talented, and full of energy. It’s the kind of show you may want to go to repeatedly because it’s NEVER the same show twice!” said In Good Taste Denver’s Courtney Drake-McDonough. 

The New York Times says it’s “Hilarious!”
