This super bowl, many companies used their commercials for personal gain. Few used them to spread positive messages for the world. Nike, Science Moms, Novartis, and Dove are some examples of positive advertising.

Dove, the body wash/body care brand had their advertising team hard at work with a commercial about body shaming, and beauty standards. At first is depicts a young girl running with the caption “At 3, these legs are unstoppable.” As she continues running around the block, more text appears with  « At 14 she’ll think they’re unbearable. » It finally mentions how 1 in 2 girls quit their sport due to body shaming, or equivalents of body shaming.

Nike also follows along with the women in sports theme. It shows different women playing their prospective sport and different sayings. Some of these sayings include « You can’t be confident », « You can’t dominante », or « You can’t win ». Then it is followed by « So be confident » and different sayings along those lines. This commercial is supporting women’s rights in sports. It was narrated by Doechii and has many famous female athlètes (Ex. Caitlin Clark, Jordan Chiles, and Sha’Carri Richardson).

Novartis is a medicine brand but also focused on women this year. Their commercial is called « Your attention, please ». It for uses on how although many items, people, shows, etc. focus on women’s breasts but many go unchecked for breast cancer. It is said that over 6 million women watching the superbowl could have breast cancer. Hailee Steinfeld and Wanda Sykes, both breast cancer survivors, starred in this commercial.

The final one that I’ve noticed which made an impact is the commercial by Science Moms. This commercial is called « By the time » and it’s about how climate change will affect our children’s future. It shows a child growing up and how ultimately, climate change takes away the places that people go. The organization also asks people to please donate to the LA Wildfire finds.
