Sanford, MAINE — On Feb. 23 at South Portland High School, Sanford High School Guard performed its 2025 show and received a high score – four stars overall.

The guard performed at South Portland High School for their first show and got awarded an overall four out of five stars. They got a three in design analysis, general effect, and equipment. The guard received a four in movement.

The 2025 production Coven with music from “Agatha All Along” is about being accepted into a Coven of Witches. They start with a dance to communicate how the main character gets invited into the coven.  The guard then makes a sun and moon, eventually bringing out rifles and flags. After this, they do a partner dance together while the “Book of Power” is brought out.

Once their cloaks are off, a group begins with the saber feature. Others then grab their flags and move to the middle to start the flag feature. At the end, there’s a choreographed drop, where everyone drops at once, making a loud sound.
