Five Spartans participated in the festival and worked with guest conductors

SANFORD, Maine — On Thursday, April 3 and Friday, April 4, Sanford hosted the District 1 Honors Jazz Festival at SHS.
Sanford High Students Tim McGee, Jason Gastonguay, Alessandra Castro, Quang Lam, and Elijah Baker all participated in the festival. These students were able to work with guest conductors, meet other highly skilled musicians in the district, and put on a fantastic concert Friday night.
On Saturday, Sanford’s Winter Percussion group traveled to Dartmouth High School in Dartmouth Massachusetts to compete in the New England Scholastic Band Associations New England Percussion Finals.
Sanford Indoor Percussion Came in 6th in the Percussion Marching Scholastic Regional A Class. Students were able to then spend the rest of the day at Dartmouth watching some of the best percussion and winds groups in our area of the country.

Two weeks ago, Sanford also hosted the Maine State Percussion and Guard Finals. Our Winter Percussion received a Gold Medal, and our Winter Guard received a Silver.
