Sanford High School brought ten members of the Math Team to Maine State Competition

Sanford, MAINE — On April 1 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Augusta Civic Center, Sanford High School’s Math Team competed in the State competition.
Ten Spartans attended the competition. According to the advisor, Kailee Colbeth, they brought the seniors and the highest scoring underclassmen. The highest scorer this season was Rowan Winchell with 92 points.
The underclassmen are Nathan Maloney and Yashvi Patel, both are Sophomores. Matthew Melvin is the only Junior participating in the competition, he had also tied with a senior for second highest scorer with 66 points.
As for the seniors, which are all considered captains, Rowan Winchell, Ayden Bennett, Elsie Gendron, Samone Gallagher, she had tied with Melvin, Quang Lam, Corinna Vitale, and Jenny Danis.
The public were not able to come watch as there were about 1,000 mathletes in said competition.
