SANFORD, Maine – Sanford High School senior student-athletes Ben Terril and Addie Fiandaca have been selected for the SMAA Citizenship Award, according to Athletic Director Zach Lemelin.
The SMAA Citizenship Award is given to two athletes from all 17 of the member schools. The students selected are nominated by their schools and is based on their citizenship and leadership in the school.
Terril is a four-year basketball player and was nominated captain for his junior and senior year. He also dual-sports with tennis and outdoor track & field. Outside of sports, he’s an active member of the performing arts, involved in Chamber Singers and Theater — most recently he was the lead male role of Danny in “Grease”.
Fiandaca is a three-sport varsity athlete and voted captain in all three sports: soccer, basketball, and outdoor track & field. She’s an active member of NHS and is an officer of Student Council and the Class of 2025.
The SMAA hosts a banquet every year, this year’s guest speaker was Colby College Coach Jack Cosgrove.
“I am very excited for Addie and Ben to be recognized as the Citizenship recipients from Sanford High School,” said Lemelin. “They are two outstanding student-athletes who have modeled great sportsmanship while being terrific citizens at SHS.”
Congratulations to Ben and Addie!
