SANFORD, Maine – On Friday, April 4, four Environmental Club students with their advisor, Chris Jeney, traveled to attend the 2025 Climate and Me Youth Leadership Summit at the University of Maine.

While there, they were able to hear a diverse selection of speakers, including representatives from the Department of Education (DOE), Maine State Government, and local youth leaders. The students of the club were able to branch off and learn from UMaine students as well as other like-minded high schoolers.

While this was happening, Jeney was able hear from more DOE representatives, other state governments, and non-governmental organizations (NGO’s).

The group was also able to explore the UMaine campus while they were staying in the on-campus hotel, Hotel Ursa. They also had dinner at local restaurant, Tacorita, the night before the summit.

This Saturday, April 19, the Club will host a Wells Beach Clean up for any students who wish to help out or earn community service hours.
