SANFORD, Maine – The Sanford Civil Rights Team invites students and adults to take part in a chat-style podcast titled, “Voices in the Crowd: Shared Stories, Shared Humanity.”

“In an effort to build community within our school, The Sanford High School Civil Rights Team is creating a podcast series that will interview a variety of people who would like to share their stories. Everyone’s story matters, and knowing others’ stories helps to bring us closer together. Interviewees can have conversations one-on-one, or choose to bring a friend. Interviewees can view and choose the questions beforehand, which will shape the discussion,” said the Civil Rights Team.

They are looking to conduct the interviews during Wednesday Spartan Times and This is Us on May 23.

Interviews will take place in the library.

“Keep an ear out for completed podcasts,” said Jennifer Raymond, the librarian and one of the Civil Rights Team advisors. “This is a great way to get to know your fellow students in our community.”

The Civil Rights Team is an organization dedicated to helping our school community have conversations about all religions, races and skin colors, gender identities and expressions, national origins and ancestries, disabilities and sexual orientations feel welcome in our school.

Students in all grades may join the Civil Rights Team, and they meet after school on Monday until 3:30.
