SANFORD, Maine — Sanford High School’s Class of 2025 marked a major milestone on Thursday, May 1, as seniors gathered in the Partners Bank Gymnasium for the school’s annual Decision Day, a celebration of their post-graduation plans and the hard work that brought them there.

Dressed in college sweatshirts, military gear, and career-themed t-shirts, students proudly displayed what comes next, whether it’s higher education, skilled trades, or entering the workforce. For those without merchandise, a colorful table featuring college and career signs offered them a chance to participate and be recognized.

“It’s a culmination of all the hard work throughout high school,” said senior Connor Kilroy, reflecting on the significance of the day. “We had set up a college and career table” to support classmates who are still exploring their paths, he added.

The festive atmosphere included photo booths, snacks, and a live announcement station where students could declare their plans to cheers from their peers. From four-year universities to technical schools and full-time jobs, each decision was met with pride and encouragement.

Among the celebrants was Caleb Pelliteer, who will attend the University of Maine at Orono to study Electrical Engineering. “U Maine has the best engineering programs in Maine and is not as expensive as going out of state,” he said.

Issiah Phillips is taking a different route, enrolling in Southern Maine Community College’s night school for electrical wiring while working full-time. “I’m hoping to get my journeyman and own my own business,” he shared.

As Sanford’s seniors look ahead, Decision Day served not just as a celebration of individual choices, but as a powerful reminder of the diverse and ambitious futures that await the Class of 2025.
