New discount store brings brand-name bargains and community energy to Sanford

SANFORD – Ollie’s Bargain Outlet opened its doors on May 1 in Sanford, giving local shoppers a chance to score brand-name deals at discount prices and bringing a sense of excitement to both customers and employees. The grand opening marked the launch of the latest Ollie’s location, with staff working hard to create a welcoming atmosphere and meet the community’s needs.

Ollie’s Bargain Outlet is one of America’s largest retailers of closeout merchandise and excess inventory. Known for its motto, “Good Stuff Cheap,” Ollie’s offers a wide variety of products, including food, housewares, books, toys, flooring, and seasonal items at significantly reduced prices. The store sells brand-name items at a fraction of their regular retail cost, making it a popular destination for bargain hunters. 

“It felt good and like belonging,” said sales associate Lori D. “It was busy, but we started this store from the ground up, so it was like we all became a family. It was exhilarating and Positive.”

The grand opening featured sales across various departments, Ollie’s Army loyalty signups at the entrance, and team members assisting throughout the store. “From what I understand, customers said they liked the store and that it looked nice,” Lori said. “They were glad we now have an Ollie’s.”

Lori believes Ollie’s stands out from other discount retailers in the area. “We sell brand-name products cheaper than other stores. Ollie’s strives to sell brand names for less. That’s our motto.”

Popular items during the opening included outdoor and garden products, bedding, and housewares. “People get excited about anything to do with the yard or garden,” Lori said. “Also, bedding and domestics. I feel like we run out of stuff fast.”

Looking ahead, Lori is focused on building lasting customer relationships. “We just want to make sure people come back and have a good experience every time,” she said. “We want to become a mainstay of Sanford.”

With a successful opening day and strong community support, Ollie’s Bargain Outlet is already establishing itself as a go-to shopping destination in Sanford.
