Varsity Spring Sports Recap: May 12-17

BASEBALL

On Monday, May 12, the Spartans traveled to Portland and won 12-1. Top performances came from Scott Robitaille with three hits, Matty Hebert with two hits and an RBI, Drew Vessels with one hit and RBI, Zach Kassim pitching allowed only one hit and zero runs over two innings.

On Tuesday, May 13, they traveled to South Portland and lost 3-0. The top performance was from Noah Corliss with two hits

On Thursday, May 15, they hosted Noble and lost 5-2. Top performances came from Hebert with two hits, and Tyler Do with one RBI.

On Friday, May 17, they hosted Deering and won 11-1. Top performances came from Hebert with two hits and three RBI’s, Brady Boissoneault with two hits, and Brady Adams stole two bases.

Their next games are on Tuesday, May 20 at 4:30 pm at Thornton Academy, Thursday, May 22 at 3:30 pm against Massebesic in Sanford and Saturday, May 24 at 11 am, against Windham in Sanford.

GIRLS LACROSSE

The Spartans were on the road for two games last week. Despite a 4th quarter push that chased down a 4 goal deficit, the Spartans fell 9-8 a heartbreaking buzzer beater loss against Traip Academy. Savannah Knight led with three goals, Sophie Olivo and Mckenna Nanartowich each added two, and Sadie Sevigny tacked on one. Paige Sevigny tallied three assists and Ali Long contributed one. Payton Kimball made 11 saves in net.

The team traveled to Thornton Academy on Friday, May 16, falling to the Trojans 11-5. Paige Sevigny led with two goals and one assist, Brielle Landry added two goals, and Ali Long scored once. Natalie Nadeau led the defense with four forced turnovers and four ground balls. 

They host Wells and Gorham next week and travel to South Portland.

BOYS TENNIS

On Tuesday, May 13, the team travelled to Bonny Eagle and lost 0-5.

The team will travel to Biddeford on May 19, and then to Massabesic on May 21and host Falmouth on May 23.

The girls’ tennis team hosted the Bonny Eagle Scots on Tuesday, May 13. They beat the Scots 3-2.

Next week, they will host Biddeford on Monday, May 19, and travel to Massabesic on Wednesday, May 21.

The boys’ track and field team competed in Windham on May 13 against Windham, Scarborough and Biddeford. Highlights from this meet include:

  • 800m- Caleb Pelletier, 5th
  • 1600m- Isaac Pelletier, 1st, Gabe Waterman, 4th

  • 4x400m- Isaac Pelletier, Caleb Pelletier, Gabe Waterman and Lukas MaClean, 2nd
  • 4x800m- Caleb Pelletier, Gabe Waterman, Alex Lemay and Isaac Pelletier, 1st
  • Long Jump- Logan Glidden, 1st, Rhylen Avery, 4th
  • Triple Jump- Logan Glidden, 1st, Rhylen Avery, 4th, Logan Legere, 5th
  • Pole Vault- Jack Van Gieson, 3rd, Jordyn Theroux, 4th, George Westerlund, 5th
  • Discus- Elijah Bowden, 4th, Ethan Davie, 5th
  • Javelin- Kadden Veilleux, 3rd, Keaghan Gagnon, 5th

Additionally, a few athletes competed at St. Joseph’s College on May 17 in the Marathon Sports Elite Invitational 2025. 

The track and field team will compete next on Monday, May 19, at Massabesic High School for its last regular-season meet.

GIRLS OUTDOOR TRACK & FIELD

The girls’ track and field team competed in Windham on May 13 against Windham, Scarborough and Biddeford. Highlights from this meet include:

  • 200m- Jaslinn Johnson, 5th
  • 400m- Mattea Peters, 2nd
  • 800m- Annalise Stimmell, 2nd, Isabella McCall, 4th, Samone Gallagher, 5th
  • 1600m- Samone Gallagher, 1st
  • 3200m- Annalise Stimmell, 2nd
  • 4x400m Relay- Mattea Peters, Claire Pordon, Bella McCall, Jaslinn Johnson, 1st
  • 4x800m Relay- Samone Gallagher, Eliza Allen, Bella McCall, Annalise Stimmell, 2nd
  • Triple Jump- Lily Peters, 1st
  • Javelin- Olivia Farrington, 2nd, Georgia Whitman, 3rd, Mattea Peters, 4th
  • Discus- Georgia Whitman, 3rd
  • Shotput- Georgia Whitman, 5th
  • Pole Vault- Sofia Frey, 5th

Additionally, some athletes competed at St. Joseph’s College on Saturday, May 17 for the Marathon Sports Elite Invitational. The team’s last regular season meet will be held on May 19 at Massabesic High School.

SOFTBALL

On Tuesday, May 13, the Spartans hosted Bonny Eagle and lost 15-0. Top performances were from Bree Tyler with one hit on two at bats and Faith Martel struck out two batters.

On Thursday, May 15, they hosted Marshwood and won 6-3. Top performances were from Tyler who got a single and scored a run, Martel had 12 strikeouts and got a double which helped score two runs and Ysabella Mitchell got a single and scored two runs.

Their next games are on Tuesday, May 20 at 4 pm at Kennebunk, and Saturday, May 24 at 10 am against Biddeford in Sanford.
