SANFORD, Maine- On Wednesday, May 28, Sanford’s National Honor Society hosted their Senior Sendoff night and inducted next year’s officers.
After opening remarks by now-former President Quang Lam, the senior officers (Lam, Alexis Hayward, McKenna Nanartowich and Savannah Knight) each lit a candle to symbolize the passing of the torch, and the newly inducted junior officers gave the seniors their graduation medals.
The new NHS officers include Sophie Olivo (President), Perrin Shaw (Vice President), Isabella McCall (Secretary) and Annalise Stimmell (Treasurer).
NHS then honored all senior members for their send off. The junior NHS members read aloud a slide that detailed each senior’s time at SHS , as well as their plans and hopes for their fast approaching future.
The guest speaker, English Teacher Kelly Foley, congratulated the senior NHS members and officers on their time and commitment to NHS. She also encouraged the new class to honor some tried and true NHS traditions, but to remember to make each opportunity their own when possible.
After the ceremony in the SPAC, NHS held an ice cream social in the school cafeteria for students, family and friends.
