JMG students organized a Special Olympics bowling event for individuals ages 14 and older on Oct. 24, 2025, at Bowl-A-Rama. The event serves as a qualifier for the state competition, which takes place in the spring.
The JMG program first began hosting the event in 2018 to help “lighten people’s day” and give back to the community in a fun, interactive way. “We wanted to give back to the community, and this is our way of doing that,” said JMG teacher Ms. Gifford. “It’s a great way to support the athletes and make their day brighter.”
The Special Olympics bowling event allows athletes to compete and use their scores to qualify for the state-level games. It also allows JMG students to connect with and serve their community.
Since it started, the event has continued to grow, bringing students and community members together for a day of competition, encouragement, and inclusion.
