All fall sports and their athletes were honored by the athletics department and coaches on Thursday, Nov. 13, at 6:30 p.m. in the PAC.

SANFORD – Fall athletes are being recognized as the season comes to a close. We celebrate all Sanford teams and look back on this season with pride.






GOLF
Boys’ golf finished with a 7-3 record, holding big wins over Massabesic and Kennebunk. Although the team fell short of qualifying for states, Sophomore Luke Gendron qualified. Four players made the All-Academic team.
“This season saw big improvement over last year, with some new athletes. I’m most proud of our record this season compared to last year,” said Luke Gendron.

FOOTBALL
The football boys ended the season with a 2-7 record, beating Edward Little and Biddeford. Brady Boissonneault had a standout season with the following stats: defensively, 88 tackles, 2 interceptions, and offensively, 147 yds and 1 touchdown. Franco led the Offensive side with 484 receiving yards and 883 rushing yards. Two players made the All-Academic team.
“Throughout this season, our team went through hardship, but we never quit answering, never will.” Said Captain Perrin Shaw.

CROSS COUNTRY
The girls’ cross-country team saw multiple personal bests and grew in numbers, so they had a full scoring team at Regionals. The boys’ team qualified for State Championships with their highest place since 1998, coming in 4 in the region and 7th in the state. Five players made the All-Academic Team.
Issac Pelletier qualified for the New England Championship with a Top 10 finish in Class A States.
“The cross-country team had a very successful season… I’m very proud of the work that all of our athletes put in this season,” said Head Coach Nate Smith.
“This year was the highest we’ve placed at states in a decade – we had some crazy improvement from last year to this year. Our attitude toward the work shifted when we realised that we had a chance this year, so we took it way more seriously,” said Jack Van Gieson.

GIRLS SOCCER
Girls’ soccer finished the season with a 10-6 record. One of their most notable wins was their 2-1 homecoming win over Gorham. Defenses achieved seven shutouts this season (no goals scored against)
Players with notable stats included Sophie Olvio with 17 saves against Windham during the playoffs, Ava Hudson with 8 assists and 7 goals, Annie Stimmel recorded 6 goals, and Kailyn finished 5 goals. Ten players made the All-Academic team.

BOYS SOCCER
Boys soccer had a 2-10-1 record with big wins over Noble (1-0) and Massabesic (4-1). Players who held impressive stats consisted of Elijah Bowden with 9 saves against TA, Gavin Hebler with 5 goals, and Kane Tierney with 3 goals.
“The way we competed and supported each other this season makes me hopeful for years to come after me. I wish I could continue this momentum with the rest of the team.” Said Senior Captain Levi Mann. Five players made the All-Academic Team.

FIELD HOCKEY
Field hockey had a 10-3-1 record with big wins over Falmouth and Gorham. They made it to the semifinals but unfortunately lost 2-1 to Biddeford. Eight players made the All-Academic Team.

“This season was very successful in terms of our record, league standing, and playoff appearances. However, what stood out most was the commitment, tenacity, and spirit of a young but very talented group. Upperclassmen provided strong leadership throughout the season, and a talented group of underclassmen provided a spark to our play day after day. While it’s sad to close the book on a very successful season, it’s exciting to think about the potential that lies ahead.” Said Head Coach Marti Kane.

VOLLEYBALL
Volleyball had a 6-8 record at the end of the seasonwith a big win over Massabesic. Players with notable stats were Ellery Genest, 34 assists; Olivia Farrington, 14 kills; Jaslinn Johnson, 86 kills; and Leah Soucy had 39 digs. Six players made the All-Academic Team.
“This season was one of tremendous growth, not only in skill level but also in team dynamics. Through the wins and losses, we stayed united. Everyone understood what it meant to be a part of a team, but even more than that, to be a part of a family.” Said Senior Libero Leah Soucy.
