Introducing: SHS Chorale

By JORDYN MARTIN9

SANFORD, ME—Sanford High School currently offers three different elective choral classes for students to take. They are CCP Chorus, Honors Chamber Singers and Honors Treble Choir.

CCP Chorus welcomes everyone, both new and experienced singers as well as all vocal types (soprano, alto, tenor, bass). In this course you will refine your vocal ability, engage in practical training and live performances, begin to learn music theory and practice your music literacy skills.

Honors Chamber Singers is SHS’s longest-running auditioned choir. It is a mixed (soprano, alto, tenor, bass) ensemble for high achieving vocalists where you will refine your music literacy, challenge yourself with advanced vocal techniques and repertoire. This class will hone leadership skills and encourage each student to emerge as leaders and integral members as well as contributors within the musical community.

Honors Treble Choir is an auditioned ensemble for exceptional treble (soprano and alto) voices. It explores the same skills and musical rigor as Honors Chamber Singers, but specifically for sopranos and altos.

The entirety of Chorale will perform at events such as the Winter and Spring concerts as well as the Spring Sing, and the honors choirs will have additional performances throughout the school year.
