Boys Basketball

The boys varsity basketball team fell to Lewiston 51-49 on Monday, Jan. 15. Makai Bougie led the Spartans with 16 points, followed by Tanner McCann with 13.

They bounced back and defeated rival Massabesic on the road 68-41 on Friday, Jan. 19. McCann tallied 19 points, Bougie added 12, and Brady Adams contributed 11.

This week, the Spartans host Scarborough on Tuesday, Jan. 23, then host Gorham at 7 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 27, directly after the girls varsity game (at 5:30).

Girls Basketball

The varsity Spartans hosted Massabesic on Friday, Jan. 19, defeating the Mustangs 58-37. Julissa McBarron led the Spartans with 22 points, followed by Paige Sevigny with 12. Hailey Tarbox tallied six assists, three steals and five deflections.

The girls travel to Scarborough on Tuesday, Jan. 23, travel to South Portland on Thursday, Jan. 25, and play at home against Gorham at 5:30 on Saturday, Jan. 27.

Unified Basketball

The Unified Basketball Team opened up their season against York on Friday, Jan. 19, winning 64-57! They host Noble/Marshwoood on Monday, Jan. 22.

Cheerleading

The varsity Cheer squad will compete in the SMAA Cheer Competition at Noble High School on Saturday, Jan. 27.

The Spartans competed at USM on Saturday, Jan. 20. On the girls side, Mackenzie Taylor finished third in Jr Division High Jump. Lily Peters earned second in the Jr Division 400m Dash. Isabel McGown took third in the Jr Division Shot Put. Lily Lam, a dual-athlete, finished first in the Sr Division High Jump, second in the Sr Division Long Jump, and third in the Girls Sr Division 55m Dash.

On the boys’ side, there were a number of first-place finishes, including:

Walker won athlete of the meet with his victory in the shot put, with a throw of 48-6.

Up next, the team commpetes in the SMAA Championship on Saturday, Feb. 10.

Wrestling

On Saturday, Jan. 20, the team competed in the Timberlane Tournament in Plaistow, N.H. They placed fourth out of 22 teams:

Chris Chaplick and Canton Hill earned third-place finishes, James Chaplick, Brandon Gendreau, Luke Callis and Isaiah Phillips took fourth, and sixth-place finishes included Gabe Roberge, Connor Pickering, Richie Simpson and Alden Treadwell.

Canton Hill earned his 100th career win at the tournament.

The Spartans host Kennebunk and Fryeburg on Wednesday, Jan. 24 and then host Windham at 9 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 27.
