Students and staff are encouraged to show Maine pride on Wednesday, Feb. 7

SANFORD, Maine – The State of Maine’s 207 Day, a holiday celebrating the state of Maine inspired by the state’s only area code, is on February 7 (2-07, get it?).
The holiday falls on a weekday and students and staff are encouraged to wear clothing that shows their Maine pride: college gear, cities in Maine, Maine teams, and more.
The celebration originated in Portland in 2022 as a way for Mainers to celebrate themselves and celebrate their state. It consists of gatherings, games, and food for some machines others this “holiday” is new to.
Portland hosted a city-wide scavenger hunt on Feb. 3 and 4 to encourage Mainers to explore what the city has to offer.
