Decision Day May 1 at SHS

By Bailey David

Note from the Advisor Mrs. Roy: As a part of our “People of SHS” series we are sitting down with individuals who we think you should know for a variety of reasons. This week, we sat down with Owen Ledoux a Sophomore with lofty goals in the car racing world.

Sophomore Owen Ledoux is more than just an honors student; he’s been racing cars since he was 8 in 2018.  “I grew up at the racetrack as a kid” he said, always watching the races every week, basically since he was born. He’s been around Legend racing his whole life; he decided to compete after his brother Cameron started racing.

Owen, and his 5th scale Chevy Coupe made it to the world finals of 2025, a big accomplishment. “I had to adjust to the conditions, and it was extremely difficult… [but] we won our heat race,” he said. That heat race qualified him for the final championship.

He hopes to make it to the World Finals of 2026, “and hopefully get the world championship after missing it by 4 spots and placing forth overall.” Eventually he has even set his sights on making it to NASCAR for a future career.

Owen is a great example of a Sanford student who has more going on in their lives than just school and grades.
