Sanford High School’s creative magazine starts the year with a Halloween challenge

By Matt Meyers
SANFORD – Last year, Sanford High School’s (SHS) school paper, the Spartan Times, launched a program where students and staff can submit creative works to be featured on the paper’s website and socials. Now, they’re coming back with a special contest for Halloween. The contest will run from now until Oct. 21. Students can submit a Halloween- or horror-themed written piece, art or music for a chance to be promoted on the Spartan Times social media accounts.
The Muse is a creative magazine managed by Ms. Roy, Ms. Raymond, Ms. Stanhope, Anna Held and Mathew Meyers. It was launched on May 1, 2026 in an attempt to promote creativity among SHS students. Submissions are open throughout the entire school year and include written pieces such as short stories and poems, original artwork and original musical compositions. The Muse will refuse any and all AI-generated pieces, but is open to creatives of all skill levels regardless.
